My experience with clients from all walks of life has taught me that divorce doesn’t have to be litigious or break the bank.
Divorce mediation and attorney settlement negotiation are each approaches to resolving a difficult crossroads with the goal of providing all parties with the best possible outcome.
As a trained and experienced mediator and lawyer, my passion is to help you resolve your divorce in a way that makes sense for your situation.
During Mediation, we will talk about the issues that need to be addressed in the terms of your divorce.
Some of these issues might include child support, parenting, how to divide your assets including pensions and retirement accounts, and who will live where after the divorce.
Your Memorandum of Understanding
After you have agreed on the terms of your divorce, I will prepare a Memorandum of Understanding, setting forth the terms of your divorce for you to review. The Memorandum of Understanding can be the basis of a formal binding settlement agreement.
Each of the parties is encouraged to consult their own lawyer as part of the Mediation process.
Obtaining Your Final Divorce
A number of documents must be filed with the Court in order to receive a final judgment of divorce.
I will discuss the procedures for obtaining a judgement of divorce with you and the options that you have for preparing and filing the necessary documents.
Attorney Settlement Negotiation
Sometimes people are more comfortable using attorneys to advocate for their needs and interests.
In the right situation, each person’s attorney may work cooperatively with the other to find agreements that resolve issues raised in the couple’s divorce or other family law issue. Attorney Settlement Negotiation is an option that prioritizes joint problem solving and strives to reflect both spouses’ needs and interests in the final separation agreement. This approach values reaching an agreement that as best as possible reflects the interests of all concerned rather than one side prevailing over the other.
